      New Porsche iPad App Released

Porsche have updated their iPad and iPod apps to give customers the ultimate 911 Porsche brand experience.

The Porsche line of 911’s include the 911 Carrera, 911 Carrera S, 911 Carrera Cabriolet and the 911 Carrera S Cabriolet.  The app now allows consumers to design their own model, rotate it 360 degrees, take it for a virtual test drive, search for a local dealership and download a Porsche catalogue.

Speaking as an industry expert, director of marketing at Appcelerator, Elyse Phillips said: “The Porsche driving experience comes to mobile.

“Want to test drive the 911 on a gorgeous mountain road?  It’s as close as your iPad,” she continued.

The first version of the app featured only three models, but now users have access to all 911 Carrera models.

The Porsche 911 app can be downloaded from Apple’s App Store and is free of charge.

It is divided into several separate sections, the first being ‘Test Drive.’

This section begins with a video of a 911 Carrera being driven around, it then enables the user to take virtual control of the car and put it through its paces.

The app user can tilt their iPad left and right to manoeuvre the vehicle around picturesque winding roads whilst enjoying the scenic views.

As the consumer catches sight of the car’s interior, information boxes appear on the screen, giving a brief description of each item.  The user can then click on the box and the journey pauses so that the technical information that appears can be read.

The user can also send an email link to friends and colleagues so that they can view the virtual test drive.

Another section is a photo gallery of Carreras in mid-drive or at a standstill with various scenic backgrounds.

The user can save any of these images to their tablet’s memory.

The next section allows the iPad owner to view the different models from 360 degree angles using their touch screen to rotate the cars.  These images can also be saved with the vehicle in any position.

You can also shade the various models in all official Porsche colour schemes.

There is also a technical section where Porsche allows consumers to access a mobile optimised site where they can build their own bespoke 911 Carrera.

Users can then search for local Porsche dealerships and download a catalogue through the app.

Concluding, Ms Phillips said: “This is another example of how smart luxury brands are using mobile to expand their reach and create the ‘I gotta have it’ experience for customers.”
