Porsche to Unveil 918 Spyder
According to those in the know, Porsche will officially unveil the next generation of the Porsche 918 Spyder at next year’s Frankfurt Motor Show which is planned to take place in 18 months time. Although Porsche are keeping their cards close to their chests, it is highly anticipated that the new 918 Spyder will be powered by a 4.6ltr V8 engine once it finally goes into production properly. This is a larger unit than the current 3.4ltr that is powering the prototype which was shown to the general public at the Geneva Motor Show back in 2010.
At the moment this is all the information we have about the new Porsche 918 Spyder, but to recap on what we already know is that the model is a mid-sized sports car which comes in a two door, single body style roadster. The 2010 Geneva Motor Show version had a 3.4ltr engine which produces 500 horse power assisted by three electric motors, which in turn generate 218 horse power. The engine was matched to a seven speed PDK dual clutch gearbox and the entire vehicle weighed in at 1,490kg.
