911 Exhibition opens at Porsche Museum
Porsche are expecting thousands of visitors to its museum to soak up the retrospective style and quality of the iconic 911.
The Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, Germany has opened the doors to its very latest exhibition entitled - ‘911 Identity’. The retrospective look at the classic 911 will showcase each of the seven generations of legendary models set against a backdrop of its own specific era. The exhibition will be open to the general public until Sunday, 20th May 2012.
The 911 was first unveiled in 1963, and has since enjoyed a production run of 700,000 units from its Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen assembly line in Southern Germany. With the launch of the brand new 2012 911 Carrera and Carrera S, Porsche and its historical curator of milestones, the Porsche Museum, were keen to honour the 911’s rich heritage and cultural importance.
The seven generations of Porsche 911 production vehicles will be joined in the exhibition by rare racing models based on the 911 blueprint. This will include rarities such as the Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid and the 911 Carrera RS 2.7 ‘Safari’. Visitors to the museum will also be able to peruse retrospective documents deep from the vaults of the Porsche archives that have never been put on public display before.
As Porsche celebrate the launch of the very latest generation of Porsche 911, the Porsche Museum will be introducing a themed guided tour allowing enthusiasts to soak up the unique history and culture of the Porsche family brand.
If you are travelling to Germany and would like to visit the exhibition, the Porsche Museum opening hours are Tuesday to Sunday – 9am to 6pm. Admission is eight euro for adults, concessions are four euro. Children under 14 are admitted for free if accompanied by an adult.
